Chapter 5 - Submit Your Blog

Just below here is what Technorati said about themselves as at May 24, 2007.

Welcome to Technorati

Currently tracking 82.7 million blogs

Technorati is the recognized authority on what's happening on the World Live Web, right now. The Live Web is the dynamic and always-updating portion of the Web. We search, surface, and organize blogs and the other forms of independent, user-generated content (photos, videos, voting, etc.) increasingly referred to as “citizen media.”

But it all started with blogs. A blog, or weblog, is a regularly updated journal published on the web. Some blogs are intended for a small audience; others vie for readership with national newspapers. Blogs are influential, personal, or both, and they reflect as many topics and opinions as there are people writing them.

Blogs are powerful because they allow millions of people to easily publish and share their ideas, and millions more to read and respond. They engage the writer and reader in an open conversation, and are shifting the Internet paradigm as we know it.

On the World Live Web, bloggers frequently link to and comment on other blogs, creating the type of immediate connection one would have in a conversation. Technorati tracks these links, and thus the relative relevance of blogs, photos, videos etc. We rapidly index tens of thousands of updates every hour, and so we monitor these live communities and the conversations they foster.

The World Live Web is incredibly active, and according to Technorati data, there are over 175,000 new blogs (that’s just blogs) every day. Bloggers update their blogs regularly to the tune of over 1.6 million posts per day, or over 18 updates a second.

Technorati. Who's saying what. Right now.

Now, having understood what Technorati is all about and does, please follow the steps below to "Ping" your blog(s).

To come to this stage, it is assumed that you have completed the steps in Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 in creating your blogs with Blogger and WordPress respectively. It is time that you go to finish the steps in this Chapter. It is the submission of your blog to a search engine. A must do is to submit your blog to Technorati.

After you have registered with your User Name and Password (remember your user name and password), you will need to login-in into the Home Page. Close to the bottom of the page, you will notice -

Claim your blog

Next you will see "Ping us" shown as part of a panel as below -

Thanks for the Ping!

Technorati will now check francoyong.blogspot.com for new content. You can bookmark this page and return to it to notify Technorati of updates.

Automate this! You can have your blog software ping for you. Just enter http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping into your weblog tool's configuration for Pings and Notifications. Check our ping configuration page for more information.

Chapter 4 - Where The Sources Of Online Money Are For Blogs

4 Sources Of Traffic That May Generate Money Online For YOU From Your Blog

Think about this. In sales, it's the number game. Likewise, making money online is the same. The money people see your blog, the chances of making money online is there.

The simple formula for making money online is: “great contents = traffic + conversion = money”

Simply put - Generate traffic with great content and that would equal coverstion into MONEY.

The 6 million dollars question. How do we drive traffic? How do we pull and push visitors to our blog?

What are the traffic push and pull for our blogs? (we shall leave keywords, PPC and SEO out of this chapter for now).

Generally, the four (4) key sources of traffic are -

1. Create direct/organic traffic
2. Buy search engine traffic
3. Lean on networking traffic
4. Indirect Referral traffic

1. Create direct / organic traffic. “Build great contents for your blog and traffic will flow-in”. Content is the ticket to successful traffic pull. Build a blog niched to your chosen audience and traffic will be attracted to pulled in.

Use significant keywords loved by your audience and the search engines will crawl and send traffic to you. Simple write fabulous contents and Google will give you a helping hand.

2. Buy search engine traffic. The words associated with this sort of traffic source include Google Adwords, Pay-Per-Click (PPC), Yahoo Directory Listing, advertising, etc.

My personal experience with Google Adwords (sponsored links) on my website selling teddy bears was an amazement to me. I can never imagine traffic coming to my website in the first couple of hours from all over the world!! A must try and certain, such advertising can deliver. And one can then understand why internet marketing really does have a level playing field with the world market, literally, at your feet.

3. Lean on network traffic. Networking is POWER!!. Get your strategic partner to support and write testimonials about your blog. This brings credibility to your blog.

4. Indirect / Referral Traffic. Here you build links where other blogs are linked back to your blog and promoting yours. Digg, SpicyPage, Mybloglog, del.icio.us, Technorati, FuelMyBlog, Blipoo, Myspace, Squidoo, Bumpzee are some of the sites worth consideration.

These traffic source is instant. Unlike SEO that needs weeks to pull visitors to your blog, Web 2.0 traffic is almost instantaneous. Referral traffic is absolutely free!! What else can one asks for?

These 4 traffic generators have differing monetization strategies as a result of the tactics employed. These strategies will be shared in later chapters as we progress. Do come back and visit.

(Tip: Do you know that visitors coming from the search engines are the ones that would most likely click your Google Adsense ads? Yes. And Web 2.0 traffic are the least likely to click the ads.)

Be The First One And Win The Game

The Sky's The Limit Challenge

I"m going do something different today - for sheer fun of it.

I was going through a blog (I can name his / her blog as that would give the game away!!) and found all these interesting photos of buildings.

For the first one person who can name me the exact locations or future locations of the buildings below correctly (just name the cities and countries would do), he or she will absolutely get the above pair of the teddy bears FREE worth USD 50.00 including shipping to your given address; courtesy of 100teddybear.

How about that?

Feel up to the challenge??

If so, write to me NOW... this challenge expires as soon as the first person is able to provide to me with the correct list of cities and countries of these buildings.

Good Luck!!

Chapter 2 - Starting Your Blog

This chapter is meant for individuals who have not started up a blog. The steps provided below are simple small steps are easy to follow to begin the process of creating a blog. Chapter 1 - What Is A Blog?

What is a “blog”?

Short for "Weblog".

<World-Wide Web> (Commonly "blog") Any kind of diary published on the World-Wide Web, usually written by an individual. The home page usually shows the most recent article and links to earlier articles, the owner's profile and web logs written by the owner's friends. There is usually a facility for readers to add comments to the bottom of articles. There are many sites like http://blogger.com/ where you can create a blog for free. Many web logs consist almost entirely of links to other web logs, some publish original content, a few are worth reading.

Blogs can be personal or professional, topical or random, updated hourly or once a month or longer - it is all up to the individual. It is an on-line journal of sorts, a form of expression that is defined by each individual blogger.
